Clan Völsung was a Nordic clan ruled by King Leif. In Norse mythology, Völsung was the grandson of Odin and the ancestor of his clan, which lived on in his name.
History[]

Clan Völsung had a long history of honoring the Vanir. They poured mead and sacrificed lives in their honor. Leif was raised in this culture as its prince.[1] When foreign swords came for Völsung land, Leif led his people into battle. Meanwhile, Sigrid found her way to the Völsungs, the clan of her mother, and joined the fight, saving Leif. They quickly fell in love and Sigrid remained in the village with him.[2]

Leif and Sigrid left for Jötunheim to marry, but the Open Hand clan of Sigrid's father was wiped out by Thor Odinson before the ceremony could be completed, setting her on a path of vengeance. She and Leif returned to the Völsungs to recruit Hervor and Egill before leaving to find other warriors and ultimately take Thor down.[3]
