Loki Laufeyson was a character who was a major driving force for the conflict in Twilight of the Gods. He was voiced by Paterson Joseph. Based on the character of the same name from Norse mythology, Loki was a shapeshifting god and father of Fenrir, Jörmungandr, and Hel. Sigrid allied with him in her mission of vengeance against Thor.
Biography[]

Thor arrives at the birth of Hel.
Loki was abused by his father as a child, so he took up his mother's name, Laufeyson. He fell in love with the jötun, Angboda, and the two had three children together. Fenrir was born in the shape of a wolf, Jörmungandr in the shape of a serpent, and Hel was born both living and dead. As a god, Loki had divine powers, among which was the magic of shapeshifting, which he passed down to his daughter Jörmungandr, enabling her to take a humanoid form. At the birth of his youngest, Hel, Thor arrived to punish Loki on Odin's behalf for laying with giants. He banished Hel to the nether, took Fenrir as a pet, and cast Jörmungandr out to sea.[1]

Sigrid meets Loki in Hel.
Thor and Loki weren't done with each other and Loki did something to anger Thor intensely. To hide from Thor, Loki took refuge in Jötunheim. While in the form of a lizard, Loki witnessed Thor's arrival and decimation of the Open Hand giants, leaving none but Sigrid and Leif alive. Seeing Sigrid's pain, Loki believed he could use her desire for revenge to kill Thor before a prophecy came to pass that would end the life of his daughter, Jörmungandr.[2]

Sigrid's group faces the bog woman.
Loki sent Sigrid to Nidavellir to seek Andvari, whose iron could kill even gods. Their goals aligned, he promised to aid her and she decided tentatively to trust him. She formed a small group of warriors to face Thor and they headed to Andvari's forge. Blocking the kingdom's gates was an iron-clad woman of the bog. She spoke the tongue of the dead and barred entry to any who could not answer her riddle. Sigrid called upon Loki, who translated the riddle for them, allowing them to pass.[3]
